National sevens Rugby team, Shujaa has moved to position 9 from 11th in the HSBC world Rugby Series after the Sydney sevens leg.
Shujaa collected 10 points from the leg which they were edged out 17-0 by South Africa in the quarter finals.
The Blitzboks once again prevailed over Innocent Simiyu’s charges that suffered a 0-17 reverse having taken a 0-10 lead at the break through speedster Seabelo Senatla who scored twice in quick succession.
Shujaa played against Fiji for fifth place but subsequently lost 5-24.o However New Zealand revenged swiftly beating Fiji 31-7 and claiming fifth place. Hence therefore Kenya finished 7th (with a tie with England at the position who also collected 10 points) in the Sydney leg and inching 2 positions up to 9th in the world.
New Zealand and Fiji finished in 5th and 6th position with 13 and 12 points respectively.
Australia won the main cup after humbling South Africa 29-0 as Argentina took bronze and France collected the challenge trophy.
Next week , Shujaa will travel to New Zealand for the Hamilton 7s drawn against USA, Samoa and Canada in Pool D.
