Kenya's Shujaa Seven has suffered another blow after captain Oscar Ayodi picked up a cartilage injury and will be out for the next three legs of rugby series. The rugby series resumes with the Sydney sevens League which is slated between 26-28 January followed by Vancouver, Las Vegas and Hong Kong World Sevens Series.Ayodi now joins speedster Collins Injera and Billy Odhiambo in the treatment room.Ayodi who spoke to Citizen Digital confirmed the injury was a set back but he believes he will come back stronger just in time ahead of the Commonwealth games and world Cup set for June/July.“Yes, I sustained a cartilage injury before the festive season and the team doctor advised that I take a rest so that I can be fit enough before the Commonwealth Games,” said Ayodi.Ayodi is however optimistic that his predecessor, Andrew Amondi will fill the gap to drive the country to glory through the three rounds.“I believe Andrews’ comeback will have an impact on the team that is trying different combinations so as to achieve our set goals,” Ayodi said.Captain Ayodi is however not alarmed at the rate at which Key players are picking injuries and maintains the team is still strong through the three rounds.“I don’t think that’s (injury) an issue to focus on right now. That’s the nature of this game and I believe given time the injured will be fit and ready before the Commonwealth and World Cup respectively,” Ayodi noted.Kenya is 11th in the series standings with 13 points after collecting 10 points in Dubai 7’s and three points in Cape Town 7’s.
