Kenya Sevens on Saturday became the 2017 Safland Sevens champions after they beat rivals South Africa Select 19-12 in their final match staged at SFC Sports Club Swakopmund, Namibia.
The selected youthful Shujaa side was seeking the sweet revenge after earlier losing 21-24 to the South Africans during their group stage match.
Kenya's Sammy Oliech converted his try to put Shujaas in the lead before William Ambaka increased it to 12-0 on the stroke of halftime.
Sam Muregi also scored a converted try in between South Africa's two tries and a conversion to hand Shujaa the title.
Kenya began the tournament on a positive note on Friday, beating Namibia 12-0 before handing Zambia a 31-0 defeat and South Africa Bulls another 41-0 loss.
But they fell to South Africa 21-24, before bouncing back to beat Namibia Academy 26-0 in their semifinal to book a date with the South Africans in the final.
