A number of elected leaders have been facing hostility from the ground when trying to engage in developmental activities, with the office of the governor being a synonymous victim.

However, County Women Representative Alice Chae, who was speaking at Kebirigo challenged residents to work with elected leaders by cooperating with them to initiate projects.

“The bitter truth is that we do not have leadership vacuum in Nyamira County and we should accept that. As residents, you have an obligation to work with leaders and its time that you shun leaders who are anti-development,” she said.

“Development is the key to prosperity and the moment we invite politics of hatred then we are likely to realize nothing. We have to be very objective when it comes to working with leaders. Let us tell off those who are out to act as impediment to our development,” Chae added.

She blamed leaders on starting early campaigns saying they were hindering development at the grassroots due to heightening political temperatures.

“It’s really sad that some leaders target those who are in power by inciting residents against them. We must first work for our people because the time for campaigns isn’t near yet. It’s my humble plea to people to shun politician who want to put then in political mood always. We have to give development space before politics,” she said.
