The MCA, who addressed youth leaders at a local hotel in Njoro town yesterday, said that crime would not help solve the problems facing youths.

Kariuki observed that high numbers of youths are opting to join criminal gangs adding that the move is a disaster in waiting.

“It is true that many of our youths in Njoro are joining criminal groups,” he said.

The Njoro MCA appealed to the Nakuru county government to come up with ways that will create jobs for the unemployed youths.

He stated that lack of job opportunities is the major reason that has seen youths opt for crime.

Kariuki added that there is need for the government to sek partnership with the private sector in order to address unemployment.

The ward representative noted that the future of the region is at stake if young people are not provided with jobs.

The MCA challenged the Jubilee government to fulfill the pledge it made to youths during the 2013 General election campaigns.

“The Jubilee government must fulfill the 1 million job creation yearly it made to the youths,” he said.

The MCA at the same time pledged to start programmes that will help young people access employment.
