Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has called on politicians eyeing elective seats to shun divisive politics ahead of the 2017 general election.
Speaking on Saturday during a burial ceremony in Ainabkoi sub-county, Mandago warned that divisive politics could plunge the country into chaos, thus threatening peace and unity currently experienced in the country.
"Aspirants need to avoid divisive politics and instead focus on telling the electorate what they have done and what they're aspiring to do when elected," he said.
"They also need to do mature politics. Spreading false information in the name of wowing voters will not be accepted," he added.
The governor further challenged the youth to use social media constructively and objectively.
