Speaking to residents when he toured the constituency yesterday, area MP David Gikaria cautioned locals against selfish leaders.

He accused some leaders of perpetuating hate and tribalism noting that they threaten development.

“Leaders who are fond of preaching tribalism and instigating hate should know that Nakuru people are keenly watching them,” he said.

The MP said that the constituency has enjoyed peace and unity over the years and that they will now allow selfish individuals to ruin that.

Gikaria urged the county government to address the challenges facing residents citing poverty, lack of water and poor infrastructure as major issues.

He said that the county government gets enough funding from the national government, the funds he said must be used to implement development.

The MP said that many residents in the constituency has not yet seen the fruits of devolution and that the county government must pull up its socks.

On the same note, the MP urged leaders in the county to put aside their differences and work for the people that elected them.

He said that continued conflict pitting some leaders in the county will only derail implementation of development projects.
