Uasin Gishu County deputy governor Mr Daniel Chemno has called on politicians in the country to exercise political tolerance.
Speaking to members of the public at Soi in Eldoret town on Friday, Chemno said political hatred and divisions will not help Kenyans. The deputy governor further noted that development can never be realised in a divided society.
“Politicians should learn to accommodate each other at all times. No one is greater than the other,” he said.
He observed that the rising political heat in the country will affect realisation of development.
Chemno noted that many politicians have embarked on early campaigns forgetting that they are supposed to work for Kenyans.
The Uasin Gishu deputy governor also raised concerns over the rising political immaturity among a section of leaders. He said that as politicians, they have a duty to present themselves in a manner that will not embarrass the public.
Most politicians have become an embarrassment to the country through their ‘careless’ talk, he noted. He called for political maturity adding that leaders in a country that respects democracy and rule of law should be mature.
The deputy governor, who was inspecting development projects in the area, urged Uasin Gishu politicians to keep off petty politics and join the county government in propelling development.
