Former Kibwezi Member of Parliament (MP) Kalembe Ndile has urged Ukambani locals to shun leaders who are perpetuating divisive politics.
Kalembe said that some leaders were out to cause divisions among the people ahead of the 2017 general elections.
Speaking during the Ukambani Professionals meeting held at the Machakos stadium on Saturday, the former MP observed that divisive politics has made Ukambani lag behind in terms of development for many years.
“My appeal is to Ukambani people to shun leaders who are only keen to cause divisions and instead support leaders who are development oriented,” said the former Kibwezi MP.
Mr Ndile said that time has come for Ukambani people to speak in one voice and endorse leaders who will bring change.
The former MP said that some leaders who elected by the people have failed on their mandate and that it is time for them to be voted out.
“Ukambani will achieve development only if Kamba people speak in one voice come 2017,” he said.
Mr Ndile at the same time urged leaders in the three Ukambani counties (Machakos, Kitui and Makueni) to work together on development.
He said that working together among counties in the region will see locals get services they have missed for many years.
