Speaking in Kajiado county, Saturday, where he joined the Maa Community for interdenominational prayers for the country, Uhuru noted that the challenges facing the country cannot be solved through conflict-ridden politics.

“The challenges facing the country will not be solved by divisive politics and tribalism but through unity of purpose,” he said.

“We are all Kenyans and we should use our diversity to prosper the country but not to fragment it,” President Kenyatta added.

Uhuru appreciated the role played by clergy in promoting peace in the country, saying their prayers have paid dividends and should be emulated.

The Head of State also commended Kajiado residents for holding peaceful nominations, saying that enabled them to choose the leaders they wanted.

“We support the decision of the people and thank you for maintaining peace during the exercise,” the president said.
