The Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Eliud Wabukala has challenged the Church in Kenya to seek ways of raising funds to finance their projects and enterprises instead of relying on politicians whose monies may have come from corrupt deals.
"Many political leaders engage in corruption and at the same time share with the Church the proceeds of economic crimes under the guise of charity in fundraisers. This is totally unacceptable and that is why we should rely mostly on finance from our churches or other clean institutions," Archbishop Wabukala stated.
The Archbishop who was speaking in Nakuru on Friday during the opening of Imani Shopping Mall, an ACK Church sponsored project, also called on Christians to lead by example and preach against the vice which is greatly affecting the country’s economy.
"Together we can be responsible and join hands in solving problems affecting us in this country. It is high time Christians should unite in wedging war against graft that is crippling the country`s economy. Let us also stand firm and condemn those leaders supporting corruption so that they can feel ashamed of their deeds," he said.
The Archbishop, who chairs the National Anti-Corruption Campaign Steering Committee, also appealed to Kenyans to embark on a common cause to tame insatiable politicians who are on the loose ahead of the 2017 general election.
