Shurie said they have identified many challenges that lead to poor performance during national examinations.

Speaking to the press after a daylong meeting with locals in Balambala town, Mr Shurie as he outlined his five-year strategic plan for the constituency said he is committed in ensuring quality education standards in the area.

“We can no longer continue resting on our laurels as our children perform dismally. We have embarked on the journey of reversing this trend by bringing stakeholders together to address this issue,” he said.

The MP further said that he will step up drought mitigation measures to ensure that the affected families receive basic items needed for their survival.

Mr Shurie said that he will engage the area residents directly on finding different ways of improving service delivery and also improving many key sectors in the area.

“In the spirit of public participation as enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution, my office has embarked on consultative roundtable meetings with my constituents that will see us engage directly as they outline some of the challenges they want tackled and development projects prioritised,” Mr Shurie added.
