Siaya leaders have now criticised IEBC's suspension of political campaigns in the county.

Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi have strongly faulted the recent move by IEBC officers in Siaya to suspend campaigns “on no tangible grounds”.

Ochanda argued that the officials should not punish all candidates after the chaos that occurred in one constituency.

Addressing the press in Bondo on Sunday, the Bondo MP said the blanket ban must be lifted immediately.

“Siaya  IEBC officials should know that not all candidates perpetrated chaos in Rarieda. They should stop infringing on our rights with a blanket ban,” he said.

“Before IEBC officials reached their ruling, I believe they had preliminary information on the Rarieda chaos perpetrators, those are the people they should have punished, not us.”

Wandayi argued that the IEBC action is high-handed and a draconian move.
