Siaya Couty Commissioner Josephine Onunga has warned politicians against politicking during late IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando’s burial on Saturday.
A host of politicians mainly from the opposition including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are expected to attend Msando’s final send off at Lifunga village, Ugunja constituency in Siaya County.
Msando’s body arrived at the Kisumu International Airport on Friday afternoon from where it will be transported by road to his rural home for burial.
Among those who received the casket bearing Msando’s remains at the airport were Kisumu Governor-elect Prof Anyang Nyong’o and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi.
Whether politicians will heed to Onunga’s call not to politic during the burial will be known on Saturday bearing in mind NASA led by Raila is challenging the outcome of the August 8 presidential election in which President Uhuru Kenyatta beat the opposition chief by 1,441,066 votes.
Msando went missing on July 29 only for his relatives to find his body at Nairobi’s City Mortuary.
Mortuary attendants said the body was taken to the mortuary by police officers who found it at a thicket in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
Msando’s family wants police to conduct a thorough probe into his murder, identify, arrest and prosecute his killers.
Police on Wednesday said law enforcement agencies have made little progress in establishing who Msando’s killers are.
