Siaya gubernatorial hopeful Dan Salim Ongong’a has dismissed pundits' view that the County is an opposition stronghold.
Ongong'a is seeking to unseat the incumbent governor Cornell Rasanga on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Speaking on Wednesday, Ongong'a said that Jubilee Party has registered significant supporters in the region, adding that the electorate in the county is disgruntled following ODM Party's shambolic primaries.
He further pledged to deliver more than 30 per cent of the votes in the county to President Uhuru Kenyatta's voter basket during the forthcoming general elections.
“Anybody who thinks that Jubilee does not have support in Siaya is in for a rude shock,” he said.
He added that the ruling party is seeking to work closely with independent candidates drawn from the region in a view of strengthening Jubilee Party in Nyanza.
The County and most parts of Nyanza voted overwhelmingly for the opposition during the 2013 general elections.
