A man linked to the murder of a 72-year-old woman at Lwala Koudia, in Alego Usonga, Siaya  County has been put under police custody after he was arrested by Mulaha Sub location Assistant Chief Marcellus Murumba.

Siaya OCPD Ancet Kaloki has said the elderly woman was brutally murdered as she suffered deep cuts on the back and hands during the Monday night incident.

“The hands were cut with a sharp object. The suspect was found wearing the clothes that he is believed to have worn when he committed the offense. When we found him the clothes were still muddy and soaked with blood,” said the OCPD.

He said officers were in search of crime recoveries such as the weapon used to hack the elderly woman to death which will aid the prosecution in court once the investigations are over.

“Once we find the evidence, we will go to court to ensure the affected family gets justice. It is unfair for the people to take actions and take life,” said Mr Kaloki.

The relative further said that the grandchild called for help from the family members but it was too late.

The area assistant chief, Murumba, says the arrest of the 25-year-old suspect was made a few meters from their home as he had been traced by his footsteps given he walked from the crime scene on the wet ground straight to his home.
