A Mombasa court has charged two people with conspiring to steal over Sh153 million from the now defunct Mombasa county council.

Ibrahim and Abdiweli Diriye were accused of committing four counts of crime on December 7, 1998, at Miritini area in Mombasa.

According to The Star, the two brothers allegedly made counterfeit documents with the intent of defrauding the county.

They were accused of preparing an allotment letter in their names which they claimed was a genuine communication from SM Kagwi, an official at the Lands Ministry.

The two were also accused of doctoring another allotment letter using the names of Ali Mwadzhama and Imera Rabure.

The court heard that the siblings conspired to steal an industrial parcel of land in Miritini.
