A 57-year-old woman shocked residents after she was taken ill in hospital and demanded to be given human meat for her to be healed.
The woman hails from Nyamare village, Riana ward Bonchari Kisii, County.
Locals said the woman identified Edina Kebane got sick on Friday and was rushed to Iyabe hospital for treatment.
“We left the village in a group of 5 people to visit her in hospital. When we arrived and we gave her the drinks and fruits we had bought,” said a local Mercy Kamanda.
Mrs Kamanda said immediately she finished drinking a soda, she called her son and daughter who were outside the hospital ward and instructed them in our presence to go to her house and check on top of the roof of the house and bring her human meat she was hiding so that she can eat to get healed.
“It was a shock to us hearing that Kebane is hiding human meat in a coffin on the top of her house. We left the hospital ward in fear that she may end up bewitching us because we heard her secrets,” she noted.
However, the woman’s son who declined to be named said his mother was suffering from cerebral malaria. He denied that his mother is a witch saying the group of women who visited his mother at the hospital was fixing his mother.
