Newly appointed ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna has hit out at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

In a Tweet on Sunday, Sifuna termed the Commission as a useless entity.

“Omwami @SenMutula you are seeking help in all the wrong places. The @NCIC_Kenya is the most useless law enforcement entity ever. Take matters into your own hands,” read Sifuna’s tweet.

Sifuna was responding to a tweet by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, in which the lawmaker asked NCIC to take action against two musicians who recently released a video ridiculing the Kamba community.

“@NCIC_Kenya The video on social media purporting to ridicule the Kamba community is offensive, to say the least. Pull it down before it offends more people and or causes unnecessary tensions. The two bigots should face the Real music!” tweeted Mutula.

The song by Isaiah and Waharaka, was aimed at castigating Governor Charity Ngilu following the charcoal ban which was recently imposed in the county.

The video has since been pulled down from YouTube following intervention from Kenya Film Classification and Coordination Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua who termed the song as hateful.

Mutua said the song contravenes the Constitution as well as the board’s guidelines and called for the arrest of the duo.

"The song is offensive and distasteful. Its translation and real meaning and objective is to mock one community and deride its members over the ongoing controversy on charcoal burning in Ukambani,” wrote Mutua in a Facebook post on Sunday.

"This video therefore should be suspended forthwith and the two musicians, the producers, and distributors arrested and charged with hate speech and incitement to violence. The NCIC should move with speed to arrest and charge the culprits," he added.
