The initiative was launched in Machakos on Tuesday morning, where it was presided over by the chief officer in Public service Labour and ICT in Machakos County Jackson Kala.

It also marked the selection of the seven ward committee members, who have been given the task of overseeing the disbursement of the funds to the needy students, and ensure they get to the intended students.

Speaking in Machakos during the launch, Kala stated that the chosen members should do their work faithfully as the residents had trusted them.

“All the members of the ward committee should follow the respective rules while distributing the bursary funds. You should not let the residents who have trusted you down by being corrupt,” said Kala.

“The government will also be on the watch and together with the yet to be chosen County committee, we will monitor the distribution to make sure the funds benefit those students from humble backgrounds,” added Musyoka.

The officer called upon the persons concerned to distribute the funds without any delay, so that they can reach the applicants in good time.

Kala also urged the respective students to start getting bursary application forms from the county offices.
