At least 27 people who were injured when Sigiri bridge in Budalangi constituency, collapsed Monday morning, will now be compensated.
This is according to the Chinese Overseas Construction and Engineering Company, which was constructing the Sh1.2 billion bridge.
Project Manager Jerome Azhuha said three of the 27 victims would be transferred from a local hospital to another healthcare centre for specialised treatment.
The Chinese company has however not taken responsibility for the collapse and has maintained all standards and specifications were met in the construction.
“From our engineering part, this is unusual, as all the standards and specifications were met. We are going to look into the reasons and make public our findings,” said Azhuha.
“It will be our responsibility to compensate the injured,” he added.
Investigations into the incident have been launched.
