The onset on recent short rains have seen the market prices of horticulture products fall significantly easing the country’s burden of purchasing common foodstuffs.

A report released by the Food and Agricultural Authority shows that prices of these commodities dropped to affordable rates.

For example carrots dropped from Sh4, 797 to Sh3, 593 for a 138 kilo sack from August to September respectively.

Other crops that have registered significant drops are onions, sweet potatoes.

However, there is a shortage of cucumbers which resulted to rise in prices from Sh,2, 319 to Sh2,750. Potatoes also registered a price increase due to shortage.
