Speaking in Eldoret Town after attending a forum on hearing impairment, KICD CEO Julius Jwan said with the introduction of this manual, parents with deaf children will acquire competencies in sign language to support their children as they interact and participate in school and community activities.

"KICD is in the process of adopting digital content to appeal to deaf children attending school. This is to meet the needs of hearing impaired learners with great success. The material will help break down communication barriers that exist between parents and their deaf children," he said.

He urged parents with deaf children to ensure they take them to school as a minimal number of such children go to school.
