Residents of Sigona ward, Kikuyu in Kiambu county will soon see water shortage problems end after various water projects were launched.

The projects are carried out by Kikuyu Constituency Development Fund in conjuction with EABL Foundation and Amref. 

The first phase of the project, which was commissioned on Friday, will see the construction of a 100,000-litre tank and provide a piping network of over four kilometres. 

The phase also involves rehabilitation of another existing water tank reservoir at a cost of Sh4.8M. 

The second phase of the project will involve the drilling and equipping of a new borehole at Keroa site part of Kerwa water project. 

Area MP Kimani Anthony Ichung'wa that he will continue providing basic services despite some of them being devolved. 

"Despite the new challenges to CDF from committing funds to such devolved functions such as water provision, we remain faithful to our true transformation agenda of changing lives by providing clean water to homes across the constituency," he said. 

"We shall continue to secure and build such transformational partnerships with corporate sponsors and other donors in this endeavour to remain true to our calling to serve God through faithful service to humanity," he added. 

He said that he is pursuing support for completion of Mbomboini Water Project in Nachu Ward and Gaitumbi water project in Kinoo ward.
