Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of failing to reclaim the Migingo Island from Uganda.
During a campaign rally on Sunday at Port Victoria, Odinga said that the Jubilee administration had failed to address the plight of fishermen from the region.
Over the recent past, fishermen from the region have been calling on the Jubilee administration to intervene and save them from alleged harassment by Ugandan officers.
“The government has neglected our poor fishermen in Lake Victoria. For years, they have been arrested and harassed yet nothing is being done to stop this.
"We as Nasa will ensure we reclaim Migingo and support our fisherfolk,” Mr Odinga said.
During his tenure, President Uhuru Kenyatta has done little to address the fish rich Migingo island issue.
As it appears now, the NASA brigade is set use the issue as a campaign tool.
