The leaders who spoke during the Borabu Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi’s homecoming party on Monday said the Gusii community is ready for national politics.

Vocal Dagoreti North legislator Simba Arati said: "The elected leaders owed the community a duty to mobilize its members to unite for a common purpose.”

Arati whose installation as the Abagusii Spokesperson had raised eyebrows in some circles, vowed never to allow other communities or individuals to underrate the numerical voting bloc of the Abagusii community.

Kisii county women representative, Janet Ong’era claimed it was high time the community raised one of its own to vie for the two top seats in the country in the next general elections.

According to her: "The community’s 2 million votes including the diaspora was significant to bargain for a political chip."

On the Miguna Miguna Saga, Momanyi who is also a member of Parliamentary Service Commission called for respect for the rule of law by the state and individual citizens.
