Outspoken Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati was on Sunday crowed as Gusii community spokesperson, and event which crowned a heated debate on his suitability.
Last month, a group of Gusii elders warned the youthful ODM legislator against 'taking 'oath' adding that he risked 'deportation'.
"We respect him but he is not yet fit. We urge him to continue serving our people in Nairobi," said James Matundura, Chairman Abagusii Council of Elders.
A number of Gusii politicians have remained mum on Arati's expeditions with some said to be unhappy with his moves.
But at Bobasi, Arati hailed elders present for honouring him with the crown adding that he is ready to die for the community.
"I will die on my feet as long as my people will not live on their knees.i want to thank the young people for seeing far. Yes I am young, but I am ready to take over this battle," he said.
The second term lawmaker dismissed claims that he was fighting political battles in the region, insisting that his focus is improving economic well being of his people.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i had backed Kisii senator Sam Ongeri for the lucrative position although the latter is yet to open up.
