Even though he has already taken oath as spokesman, Arati has been thrown into defense over his marital status back in his Gusii backyard with critics dismissing him as a 'boy.

And at Borabu constituency on Sunday, Arati challenged leaders to dwell on development issues rather than unhelpful propaganda.

"You don't have to marry to be a leader. That is a wrong narrative that cannot help anyone," he said, even though he is a family man.

He added: "To volunteer myself as the community's spokesperson does not cost anyone. All we need is collective leadership."

Even though he has vehemently denied links to Kisii gubernatorial bid in 2022, local politicians have accused him of plotting to enter Gusii politics.

The Dagoretti North MP is widely believed to be among those planning to succeed Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
