Days after controversially being installed as Gusii community spokesperson, a group of rebellious elders now want Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati to de-link from NRM.
So controversial his inauguration was, that even his colleague MPs skipped the well attended event at Bobasi on Sunday.
And the team of elders led by Julius Nyandoro on Wednesday said, they would only be comfortable with Arati if he shifts allegiance to government.
"We do not have issues with him being our leader because he is qualified. However, we need someone who can face the government and negotiate on our behalf.
"Therefore, it will be imperative if he quits NRM and works closely with authorities. That's the only way he can help us," said Nyandoro.
During the Sunday's function, Arati challenged local politicians to support him in the new role, arguing that he was disinterested in local politics.
