Kenyan gospel singer Bahati has hit headlines once again after a poster doing rounds in social media claiming that he will be seeking an MCA seat in Makueni in the 2017 polls.
Bahati has denied being behind the poster that shows him asking people to vote him for the seat under the Jubilee Party umbrella.
He took to his Instagram account to clarify on the post that had illicited both positive and negative criticism from his supporters.
“PLEASE STOP THIS???????????? (I) Can Never be a Politician- (I) am Called to be VOICE OF THE AFRICAN CHILD. Na mwenye Amejenga hii Uongo Please Mwambieni BAHATI HAPENDAGI UJINGA (And tell whoever has built this lie that Bahati does not like mediocrity) !!!????????????" read Bahati’s Instagram post.
During an interview at Kisii Fm, Bahati similarly stated that he will not contest for a 'small' seat like that of the MCA position.
“If I will vie for a political seat, (it will be big and) not a small seat like MCA. The seat I will vie for should be a government one. For now I remain to be the voice of the African Child through songs,” stated Bahati during the interview.
