Mombasa Women Representative Asha Hussein Mohammed has sent a message to parents in the county telling them to sire many children so that the county can gain political numbers.
Asha said that having many children was the only way of wooing other tribes with many voters in the country so that Mombasa County and the whole Coast region increase its political bargaining powers.
Speaking at Tudor in Mombasa over the weekend, Asha said that the county and the whole of Coast region was being political discriminated following low population which could not create space for political bargains with another region in the country.
The Mombasa county Member of Parliament said that not only in Mombasa but the whole of Coast region should think in lines of increasing their numbers so that they are capable of getting higher slots in political or cabinet posts.
“As Coastal residents you all know that you do not have space in the current leadership and you must work out your political strategy very well,” she said.
She said that since the coast is now eyeing the top seat, then the region should have the bargaining power at hand.
“We are saying that we want our very own to sit at the statehouse in 2022, what are we currently doing to achieve that?” she posed.
The Mombasa County Women representative urged locals at the Coast to wake up and unite their leaders in ensuring that they are no longer used as stepping stones for other political leaders in the country.
She called on Coastal residents to ensure that they remain united for a positive political course in the 2022 general elections.
