Six men were today (Thursday) arrested in a local pub in Ndumberi, Kiambu sub-county for drinking before the required time by law.
The six were arrested in the pub which was closed for security operators not to notice if there were any operations going on in the building.
Speaking in his office, Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng’etich said that the six were taking alcohol as from 8am in the morning, an activity he said was against the law adding that the six will face the law accordingly.
The OCPD further explained that the owner of the pub escaped and Police are still hunting for him. OCPD Ng’etich sent a stern warning to all bar operators who do not comply with the Mututho laws advising them to observe the law to be on the safer side.
The police boss further urged men to work instead of waking up early for alcohol.
Hannah Mburu, area resident said that men in the area wake up early to go for drinking something that has frustrated most women in the area.
“It is unfortunate that most women in the area work extra hard because the men who are to work are deeply carried by alcoholism,” said Mburu
She mentioned that the men were portraying a bad picture to the children and this was dangerous as they raise children.
“Its very bad for our children to grow under such men, it really can be dangerous as some of these children might grow knowing that that is the way of life,” said Mburu.
