Six people who were said to be transferring voters to another Constituency have been arrested by the police.
According to Garissa OCPD Aron Morriase, the suspects who were caught in Iftin Ward were from Lagdera Constituency pretending to be working for a certain Non-Governmental Organization and were doing registration, requesting the locals to fill forms for them.
"We have arrested six people who were posing as employees of non-existent NGO while transferring voters (without their knowledge).
He added "Because they knew people would not voluntarily agree to transfer votes, they opted to deceive them saying they will help them fill in the forms," he added.
Morriase further says that the police will investigate on how the suspects got the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission voter registration forms.
It is confirmed that one of the suspects is an assistant clerk assigned to Shantaabaq ward in Lagdera Constituency. The suspects are in the police custody waiting for appearance in court.
