Six boys from Nyakongo High School were arrested by the police after being found in their neighbouring Omoyo Girls Boarding on Saturday night, Gesima assistant county commissioner has confirmed.
The boys reportedly sneaked out of their school which is 3KM away from the girls’ school before making their entry into the girls’ dormitories without being noticed by the school’s watchman.
According to Ms Veronica Wangui, the six were nabbed after a tip by one girl who informed the school watchman before the information was given to security details.
“I want to confirm that our officers led by myself managed to arrest six boys from Nyakongo High School within the premises of Omoyo Girls secondary school at late hours of the night after a tip from the school watchman,” she told the reporter on Monday.
“They jumped over the fence and managed to get through. I am happy that we managed to arrest them before engaging in any sexual activities. We have taken them to Keroka police cells but we may revert to counseling because they are teenagers,” added Wangui.
Omoyo school head Uniah Osinde condemned the incident and insisted that the institution will not allow unruly girls and vowed to investigate the incident and expel those found culpable.
“It’s hard to believe that the boys could find their way through without being led by the girls. We are currently investigating the incident and those found culpable of inviting male friends will be discontinued,” added Mrs Osinde.
Nyakongo High School Deputy Principal James Oteki also insisted that the administration will not be lenient on arrested suspects once released.
“It’s always good for our children to have good morals and I want to insist that those found culpable will face the full wrath of school rules,” he said.
