The race for the Kilifi North parliamentary seat is heating up.So far, six candidates have declared interest for the seat currently held by MP Gideon Mung'aro.Mung'aro will not be defending the seat as he intends to challenge Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi for the post of governor. The six include former county Secretary Owen Baya (ODM), Lawrence Kilabo (Jubilee) and Pascal Maitha (Kadu-Asili).Others are Eliud Kalama (Wiper), Edward Mwamaye (ANC) and Anthony Kingi who is yet to declare the party under which he will run for the seat.It is expected to be a tight race for the candidates taking into account the fact that the constituency is an opposition zone and that Jubilee is not taking chances to topple the opposition and send a representative to Parliament from the electoral zone.Mung'aro fell with ODM, the party through which he was elected to the National Assembly in 2013.The rebel ODM lawmaker has been cross-crossing the Coastal region campaigning for Jubilee.During all President Uhuru Kenyatta's visits to the Coast, he played an instrumental role in marshaling support for him.
