Six people were on Thursday morning admitted in hospital following an accident at Nairobi's Central Business District.
The six were admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital after suffering serious injuries following the 7am accident involving two vehicles.
The head-on collision involving a parastatal land cruiser and a matatu that plies the Kawangware-CBD route caused a heavy traffic jam along Kenyatta Avenue and Muindi Mbingu Strees.
A police officer at the scene who declined to be named as he is not authorised to speak to the press said the matatu was overspeeding.
Among those admitted in hospital are drivers to both vehicles.
Wreckages of both vehicles were towed to the Central Police Station in Nairobi.
The officer said the matatu knocked the land cruiser that was joining Kenyatta Avenue from Muindi Mbingu Street.
"We will do our work and determine who was wrong," he said on phone.
There is a tendency by drivers to over speed in Nairobi early morning with the aim of beating traffic jams associated most roads in the city.
