Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha has been dealt a major blow after six of the members he nominated for the County Executive Committees (CEC) positions failed to meet the threshold.According to Baraka FM, the county boss is now expected to present other names before the vetting team led by Speaker Abdu Kassim. The six are Florence Ndung’u (Agriculture and Water Development), Raphael Munyua (Health and Environment), Abdu Godana (Fisheries and Cooperative Society Development), Hemed Ahmed (Finance and Planning) Dismas Polle (Trade, Tourism, and Industrialization) and Fahima Arafat (Lands and Infrastructure Development).Earlier on, the Governor had pledged to form an all-inclusive government based on skills, origin, experience, constitutional requirements and diversity of the county among other qualifications. However, it emerged most of the nominees had no background exposure in the various fields they had been nominated. The professional and academic qualifications of the nominees were also said to be questionable. Some of the nominees also found it hard to defend themselves after they were linked to various scandals at the county and national level. It also emerged that most of the names presented before the vetting panel did not meet the criteria of having five years of experience in different fields.
