Police have arrested six notorious drug peddlers in Lamu County and recovered cocaine and bhang.

The suspects identified as Mohamed Alii, Hisham Abdallah, Imran Islam, Feiswal Islam, Ali Hassan and Said Mohamed were nabbed after police raided their houses on Thursday.

Lamu county commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo said the suspects are among the drug dealers bringing in hard drugs from other parts of the country into Lamu. According to Kitiyo, the suspects were nabbed in possession of several packages of cocaine, bhang and several apparatus used in smoking and sniffing drugs.

"More drugs were confiscated when they led the officers to their houses during the raid," Kitiyo said.

Kitiyo warned that those who have not been arrested their days are numbered and it will be better they stop.

"Those still abusing and selling illegal drugs have two options, either stop or leave Lamu because either way, we shall catch up with them," he said.

He urged locals to report any suspect to police.

He assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
