A magistrate court has ruled that all six persons involved in various tender irregularities involving Sh12.8 million payment at the National Authority for Campaign and Drug Abuse (Nacada) will take plea in the next two weeks.
The fourth and fifth accused Zeka Wekesa and Anthony Munyui respectively were the only ones present in court on Wednesday.
However, the court ruled that all should jointly take plea on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
Nacada Chief Executive Officer, William Okedi, first accused in the case will be charged on three different counts.
He is accused of wilful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement in the first counts, by procuring a consultant, not in the prescribed method, for the management of Alcoholic Drinks Control Fund, and approving payment of Sh12.8 million to Ernest and Young without the prescribed interim and completion certificates by the Inspection and Acceptance Committee.
He is further charged with abuse of office for the provision of Financial Management Agency services without applicable procurement procedures.
Others to be charged on two counts pf willful failure to comply with procurement laws are George Murimi, Florina Mwikali, Zeka Wekesa and Anthony Munyui.
Prosecuting Counsel Gitonga Riungu informed the court that the accused persons had been summoned by EACC to appear in court today on August 3rd.
