This is very different from what Skating Mashinani organisation does.

Speaking to the skate Mashinani trainer at Thika section 2 area Vincent Kimani, he said that they have been trying their best to come up with something more better than passing time and having fun but have used it as a way to earn a living and help children socially.

He said that the children especially in the posh area have a problem of interacting with other kids as they are not in brought up in the same social background.

Kimani said that the children are brought by their parents and they train them together irrespective of their social background. He said that they charge 300 shillings per hour to teach a person which can take a maximum of 2 days for slow learners.

“During weekends and the holidays, we train children on how to skate and not just skating but being professional skaters. We help the be able to interact with each other and learning to be patient since skating is all about excellence and when a child is instilled with that aspect, we can guarantee the parent excellent performance even in class,” Kimani explained.

He added that no child is difficult to train since every child likes playing so by using a sport to teach him or her life skills becomes the simplest way than lecturing the child in long speeches which at times they do not pay attention to.

“We link skating to the essential virtues like respect, obedience, faithfulness, discipline and love. This is in order to make sure that every child has all that when it comes to the end of the training and not just the skating skill,” he stated.

Kimani said that the children will be engaged in a tournament today where there is more than 60,000 shillings up for grabs for the winners.

The participants will be divided in to groups according to the age.
