A Kenya Defence Forces soldier who was killed in Somalia when a KDF camp was attacked was on Tuesday laid to rest at Jumatatu village in Kabazi, Nakuru.
The emotional burial sent the village into a sombre mood.
The officer, James Mwangi, 29, was at El Adde in Somalia when Al Shabaab attacked and blew a KDF camp killed several soldiers.
Speakers at the burial hailed Mungai as a courageous Kenyan who stood with his country in moments of turmoil.
“You died so we can live. You will remain a hero, forever etched in our memories as a sub-county, a county and a country,” Peter Mbae, who represented Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s at the burial, said.
