It is suspected that they could have been slaughtered for meat either for sale locally or somewhere else. 

There have been incidents of donkey body parts being found in many parts of the country.

No suspect has been arrested so far. In order to slaughter and sell donkey meat, one needs a special license. There are firms in Naivasha and Nakuru that have acquired the licenses and slaughter donkeys for export.

Donkey milk is said to be very nutritious and can cure numerous ailments and boost immune systems.
