Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has assured slum dwellers that the county was on course towards ensuring that the garbage issue is addressed.Speaking on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Sonko said the overpopulation in the city had led to an overwhelming garbage menace but promised to work on it. "Recycling garbage, without doubt, is an integral aspect of managing waste. Nairobi City County faces numerous challenges in terms of collection and disposal of solid waste," he said."The higher waste generation can be attributed to the fast-paced industrial growth, high rate of construction, increasing population. However, the only way out for my administration is to work around the obstacles and take meaningful initiatives towards managing waste effectually. To this end, Nairobi City County strongly believes in forging strategic partnership with the private sector to put up recycling plants to cope up with increasing waste problems in Nairobi especially in Dandora," he added.
