Mathare United have ascended to the top of the Kenya Premier League, after winning their second match 2-1 against Nzoia Sugar over the weekend.
With both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards missing in the local action due to their commitment at the continental championships, the slum boys took full advantage to climb to the summit of the table.
The team, which narrowly missed relegation last season, is under the tutelage of Francis Kimanzi, who seems to have gotten the right combination for his team.
The Kimanzi-led team had to come from a goal down to win against the millers, and maintain a perfect start to the league.
Other millers, Sony Sugar, managed to stun four-time champions Ulinzi Stars, seeing them off 1-0 in the weekend fixture.
The result saw them climb to the top-half of the table, after losing their opening fixture 1-0 against Wazito FC.
Nakumatt FC stunned Thika United, coming from two goals down to grab a 3-3 draw in a pulsating match played on Sunday at the Ruaraka Grounds.
