Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth is urging diverse communities living in Kibera slums to co-exist peacefully for meaningful development to be realized in the area
Okoth expressed concerns that tension is brewing in the region, saying some communities were fighting over political differences, something that he would not like to see happen again.
Speaking at AIC Kibera Church on Wednesday when he met Kibra peace actors promoting peace through community peace dialogue forum, the legislator called on the area residents to co-exist peacefully and cease inter-communal hostilities for the sake of development.
“These communities must learn to live in peace and end occasional communal crisis in the region,” he said.
The MP said serving and aspiring politicians should encourage their people to live in peace and to resolve their differences through dialogue rather than resorting to violence.
“We are also urging politicians to desist from acts and utterances that would mar the peaceful atmosphere the county is enjoying now,” he said.
