Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has claimed that there is a plot by top Deputy President William Ruto's aides to rig him out of the Jubilee Party primaries slated for this Friday.
Speaking on Wednesday in Eldoret town, the governor accused DP Ruto's personal assistant Farouk Kibet and Reuben Maiyo (a key Ruto aide) of scheming to help his opponent to win the Jubilee Party ticket.
Mandago is facing stiff competition from billionaire Bundotich Kiprop Zedekiah also known as "Buzeki", who is eyeing the Uasin Gishu governorship seat on a Jubilee ticket.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi reiterated Mandago's allegations, warning the Jubilee Party against favouritism during the nominations.
“We know they are doing it without the knowledge of the DP, but we will not allow them to have their way,” the legislator noted.
The Deputy President's office has since distanced itself from the two leaders' claims, saying Jubilee Party is committed to delivering a credible process.
