Migori Governor Okoth Obado has claimed that his political opponents were responsible for chaos and violence witnessed in Migori last week.
Speaking on Monday shortly after appearing before the ODM party disciplinary committee, the County chief maintained his innocence on the matter, saying he did not organize or engage in any form of violence in his backyard that led to the shooting of Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho's bodyguard.
"That was the work of my opponents. His supporters started throwing stones at us as soon as we arrived," he noted.
He further stated that any political party was at liberty to hold peaceful political meetings in Migori.
"The party leader or any official is free to visit the county as long as they don't come to endorse some people," be said.
The governor also observed that he was ready to face any aspirant for the ODM Party ticket.
He is facing stiff competition from former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko, who is also seeking the ODM Party ticket.
