Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki has said residents using social media platforms to spew and spread hate will be traced and legal action taken against them.

Speaking during a press conference on Sunday, Achoki said police are monitoring social media platforms.The commissioner urged locals to use the internet wisely before, during and after Tuesday’s election.“We are closely monitoring social media platforms especially Facebook, Twitter and different blogs and whoever will be found spewing or fanning hatred on the said platforms will face the full force of the law,” he said.Achoki urged residents to be patriotic and help in preaching unity and peace.Meanwhile, Achoki has warned goons planning to take advantage of the Tuesday polls to advance their criminal acts.He said security has been heightened in the county adding that police will be conducting 24 hour patrols.He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies as they keep law and order.Achoki at the same time urged residents to come out in large numbers and vote for their preferred candidates.
