Nyumba Kumi Initiative has embarked on an aggressive campaign to revive all Nyumba Kumi clusters countrywide in the wake of emerging threats perpetuated by reckless social media users.
Addressing members of Nyumba Kumi clusters and government policing agencies from Embakasi Sub County in Nairobi on Saturday, Nyumba Kumi Chairman Joseph Kaguthi warned those peddling hatred using social media that their days were numbered.
"The law is very explicit and there is a limit to the extent to which you can use or not use your freedom of expression in any format. Very soon some arrests will be made and the culprits will serve as a deterrent to those spreading reckless messages on social media," said Kaguthi.
Kaguthi said that security agencies through the collaboration of Nyumba Kumi clusters who have volunteered useful information were already closing in on hate mongers.
He called on all members of various clusters to remain vigilant and address only issues that affect their areas underscoring the need for each one of them to remain apolitical and avoid engaging in political debates that were increasingly becoming divisive in nature.
Kaguthi noted that the country is undergoing through a very critical moment and there was need for leaders to exercise caution while discharging their respective responsibilities.
The Chairman said it was the high time Kenyans changed their perception towards government policing agencies adding that recent survey has revealed that petty crime reduction was highest in areas where Nyumba Kumi clusters and Government policing agencies worked closely.
