The members, who had gathered at a local hotel in Thika to discuss on the way forward, claimed that the officials misappropriated their money, since they failed to account for the funds they used to buy fertilizers.

An independent auditor, Gakumo Mwangi, told journalists that the audit report indicated that the eight hundred members’ society were rendered broke through unauthorized and illegal expenditure for over ten years.

However, the current chairman Peter Ngira, said they would sue the officials in order to recover the lost cash.

“We have planned together with members on how and when to file a suit against the corrupt and non-transparent officials, real money cannot just be left to be squandered by non-caring leaders; we will act,” he said.

In an affidavit, the former officials noted that the money they used was legally and properly used; urging the audit was unfairly done as they were not allowed to give their views.

“We were not involved on the audit process, our opinions were also not collected before the usage of our funds,” said Ann Mumbi, a member.

They are now calling the intervention of the government to bring light in their corporation before they decide otherwise.

“It is possible for us to dissolve this corporation if the government does not provide a solution to the standing row,” said Martin Munene, the coordinator.
